Dimensional color

Salon Joseph’s stylists inspire one another to constantly improve our practices to deliver beautiful results. In-salon classes and independent workshops, trend watching and tutorial videos, and a team free to share their own teachable moments uplifts our color game.

Dimensional color is a straight-forward technique: colorists alternate foils to create highlights (using lightener) with contrasting lowlights (using semi-permanent color). It’s the perfect technique for clients looking to switch-up their overall blonde color, and is also ideal for clients who have progressively lightened their hair only to end up with hair that’s too bright in the end.

With this technique in hand, colors then work to thoughtfully frame features and face shapes to complement the natural beauty in each of us. Balayage and foilyage techniques will often incorporate the principles of dimensional color to achieve that perfect look.
